Lillian and Archie are stars!

Lillian and Archie Neil became stars of their school when they received certificates and trophies for their business enterprise fundraising project. They appeared in the school newsletter. They were, of course, already stars of our club as the fundraising was for our club funds.

Fundraising.

Mandy Younger, our treasurer, has had to spend quite a lot of our funds in the last few weeks. We had a Christmas party, paid our insurance (which has gone up again), re-stocked on badges and certificates and paid for annual trophy engraving and replicas for two years. Not surprisingly, we need to do some fund-raising. We thought we might run a sweepstake on the Grand National in April, with half of the donations as prize money. In the meantime, the committee has sponsor forms (or you can download a copy of the sponsor form by clicking on the link below) if anyone feels able to swim, run, walk, cycle, keep quiet, or anything else to help club funds

Well done Paul!

Paul McKillop was awarded his 25 metre badge on 8th January 2010 – the first badge of the new year. Congratulations Paul!

Annual club trophy and certificate winners

The following annual club trophy and certificates were awarded at the Christmas party on 11th December 2009.

Kevin Whitmore Trophy (Junior Achievement): Thomas Slater.

Colin Bunn Trophy (Senior Achievement): Marie Clarke.

Fundraiser of the Year Certificate: Lillian Neil.

Long Service Awards: Mandy Younger, Peter Carey and Barbara Lanwarne.

Well done everyone!

Wishing all our members a Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in the new year. The swimming club reopens again on Friday 8th January 2010 at our usual time of 6pm.

Meeting time to remain the same

Following fears that our time slot would change after Christmas, the Council have held a meeting and decided that our time slot will remain the same. The article below was in the Nuneaton News on Monday 7th December 2009. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this happen! Click on the image to view the article full size.

Important news

The pool will be closed on 18th December and therefore the Christmas party will be on the 11th. If anyone can sell raffle tickets or donate prizes for the raffle – we only have one week left!

The pool has informed us that after Christmas our time will be 7.00pm until 8.00pm. This is too late for many of our younger members and several parents have already phoned the council to complain. If this affects any of you as members you make want to take some action yourselves. We also need you to come to sessions so that we can let everyone know how many people use the club.

Latest badge results and November news

Well done to Elle-May Dempsey who got her 100 metre badge on 27th November and Robert Burr who got a special certificate for swimming 2 metres all on his own (underwater, but on his own!)

Two assistant teachers joined us for the first time, also on the 27th. Sue Smith and Karen Whinmill have helped many children to learn to swim at Exhall Grange. If they can spare the time to come on a regular basis, more of our swimmers will get a proper lesson or coaching.
