Christmas Party and Presentation Night

Christmas Party and Presentation Night  17th December 2010

Heavy snow followed by ice during the day affected Coventry very badly – Bedworth and Nuneaton escaping the worst. Unfortunately, some members could not get to the final swim of 2010 and missed the party. Father Christmas had no such problems – it was perfect conditions for sledge and reindeer. All the younger members gave their last requests for the big day and received an early present.

Photographs will be on the website soon.

Club T shirts were presented to all members – thanks to the fund-raisers for this. Regular members unable to get to the party will receive theirs in the New Year.

Hinckley Gala Certificates and Goody Bags were presented to some of the 12 swimmers who represented the club in the Hinckley Gala. Again, some will have to wait until the New Year.

Fundraising certificates were awarded to:

Martelle Swinton and Clifton Hall (not present)

Paul McKillop

Fundraiser of the Year Certificate

Marie Clarke (not present)

Volunteer Certificates

Amina Malik

Simon Godfrey (not present)

Long Service Award

Kevin Whitmore Trophy (Annual Junior Endeavour)

Ashley Campbell-Barker

Colin Bunn Trophy (Annual Senior Endeavour)

Helen Deakin (not present)

A very special presentation was made to Mandy Younger for all her years of service to the club as treasurer and secretary. Thank you so much Mandy. Mandy has handed over her duties to Marie Clarke and she intends to continue as a committee member.

As always, the raffle took some time to draw because of the generosity of members donating prizes. The list of ticket numbers drawn is published separately.

Thank you to all who managed to attend and all of you for your support throughout the year.

Merry Christmas and a happy and successful New Year to everyone. See you on 7th January 2011.

Christmas Party/Raffle

We now have a good collection of prizes for our raffle draw, which will take place during the Christmas Party, on Friday 17th December 2010. Tickets are 20p each or £1.00 a strip, with all the proceeds going towards the club funds.  If you have not already bought your ticket(s) they will be on sale at the party, so please don’t forget as this will be your last chance to buy them and win a great prize!

Well done Mark!

Congratulations to Mark Day who swam 300 metres in a 10 minute timed swim, for a stamina test certificate on 19th November 2010. Well done Mark!

Christmas Arrangements

The Christmas Party will be held on Friday 17th December 2010 at 7 pm in the cafe after the usual club session. Contributions of raffle prizes and ticket sellers are needed. Please speak to a member of the committee for further information.

The pool will be closed on 24th December 2010 and will close at 1.30 pm on 31st December 2010. Therefore, the party week on 17th December will be the final swim of the year before the pool reopens and we have our first club session of the new year on Friday 7th January 2011.

Well done Edward and Ashley!

Congratulations to 6 year old Edward Davis who gained his 50 metre distance award on Friday 5th November 2010.

Congratulations to Ashley Campbell-Barker who swam 7 lengths in a 10 minute stamina test (175m), on Friday 5th November 2010.  Ashley also achieved his 200 metre badge and certificate on Friday 12th November 2010.

Well done to both of you!

Fundraising – The Big Push for T-Shirts.

As some of you already know, for some time now, we have wanted to buy club t-shirts for all our members, which have our club logo on. We feel that this would be good idea for when we take part in galas and competitions, or if anybody would like to wear them during the club session.  As we have to rely on fundraising and donations to cover the costs of running the club, we have decided to do a BIG PUSH FOR T-SHIRTS so that we can raise the money to buy them. We would like every active member of the club to do a sponsored event and support us. It could be any sponsored event, from a sponsored swim to a sponsored silence, the choice is yours! Every penny counts!  We have a suggestion for a sponsored walk around the park. If you would be interested in taking part in this, please speak to Sheila Carey.

Sponsor forms are available to download from the link below, or from the noticeboard on display during the club session.  However, you should all be receiving a copy of the sponsor form from the committee shortly.

Many thanks for your support!
